We've run enough shows, from arena tours to street corner pop-ups, to know the difference between a checklist that lives in someone's head and one that actually gets used when things go sideways at load-in.
This isn't theory. This is what we actually run through before a crew rolls up to a venue with cases and cable.
Pre-Production: The Stuff That Saves You On Show Day
Most broadcast disasters get decided a week before the event, not during it. Site surveys matter more than people admit. You need to know your power situation, your signal environment, your ingress and egress for gear, and whether the venue has cell coverage that can actually support a bonded connection or if you're bringing your own.
Here's what should be locked before anyone touches a case:
- Confirmed run of show with actual timecodes, not "around 8ish"
- Signal path mapped out, including backup routes
- Talent and artist team briefed on camera positions and mic needs
- Platform destinations confirmed (multistream setups need testing, not assuming)
- Redundancy plan for power and connectivity
